A UK-based Nigerian woman has gone out of her way to verify claims made by former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi about the cost of his pair of shoes.
It comes after a viral video of Peter Obi, while speaking in a 2017 interview, claimed he only owned two pairs of shoes.
In the video, the former Anambra Governor explained that he acquired the shoes from a particular brand store in the UK.
“I I told Nigerians, Peter Obi only wears black shoes, and I have two pairs, and I travel with them.
The purpose of the shoe is to protect the leg from injury. Nothing else. I bought it from Marks and Spencer for £49.99, fine”, Obi said.
To verify his claims, the woman named Saratu Ishaya who currently lives in the UK took up Obi’s challenge to verify his claims.
In the video, Saratu claimed to have found a replica of Obi’s shoes at a Marks And Spencer store in London’s Kensington district.
She went further to confirm that they sold for the price at which Peter Obi claimed to have bought them.
She then urged Nigerians to believe most of what the former governor of Anambra said.
