Troup community makes 1,000 t-shirts in honor of Cooper Reid

TROUP, Texas (KETK) – The community gathered at the First Baptist Church in Troup on Wednesday to make t-shirts in honor of high school student Cooper Reid, who was hospitalized with a football injury Sept. 9 .

Mandi Braswell, who is close to family and other local residents, helped organize the t-shirt event, and their goal is to make 1,000 shirts for Troup ISD students and community members can wear them by Friday.

A local resident also donated money so that all Troup High School students could receive a free t-shirt. The organizers used six machines to make the t-shirts on Wednesday and around 30 people helped out on a voluntary basis.

Braswell said about 1,000 shirts were ordered in about seven hours. She also said she spent the day with the Reid family and said Cooper was doing well and recovering.

“We want everyone to realize that Cooper has a long fight ahead of him and he needs more prayers than ever. We want everyone to realize that this is a marathon. We believe that with the everyone’s prayers, we’re standing on God’s promises that Cooper will win the race,” Braswell said.
