The Little Car Company looks back on the first 100 Bugatti Baby II

Celebrating over 100 deliveries of the Bugatti Baby II, The Little Car Company – makers of the limited edition Bugatti Baby II – look back on their most memorable customer orders, including the hundredth vehicle.

Built in partnership with Bugatti, the Bugatti Baby II is a contemporary tribute to Ettore Bugatti’s original masterpiece, the Bugatti Baby, built in 1926. The vehicle was developed to celebrate Bugatti’s 110th anniversary and is only not only important for preserving the history of the Bugatti brand, but also inspiring a new generation of young Bugatti enthusiasts.

Like any genuine Bugatti, buying a Bugatti Baby II means an abundance of customization options. When it comes to specifying their Baby II, customers can choose from over 160 combinations across Vitesse and Pur Sang models, with a range of extras and additional accessories that can be selected to create the perfect Bugatti. And if someone can’t find exactly what they’re looking for, The Little Car Company’s bespoke division will find the solution, whether it’s color matching or upgrading the vehicle with additional features.

To honor its 100th order, The Little Car Company reflected on some of its most notable designs.

Ben Hedley, CEO of The Little Car Company, said: “As with any luxury brand, The Little Car Company can offer a number of customization options, which customers love to explore when specifying their vehicle.

“We ordered a wide variety of Bugatti Baby II examples, some of which included vehicles for owners of the original 1926 Bugatti Baby, where they asked us to match the color of their new Baby II to their original. We have also had a number of original Bugatti Type 35 owners who have matched their Baby II to their racing car. Some customers who own modern Bugatti examples, such as the Chiron 300+ and the very rare Bugatti Divo, have also completed their Bugatti Baby II with similar specifications.A Bugatti customer recently took delivery of their new Chiron Super Sport 300+ and their Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Edition certified by “La Maison Pur Sang”, alongside six models Bugatti Baby II in bright spring colors – one for each of his six children.”

– The hundredth commission

Purchased by Dutch-based car enthusiast Mr. Sasan Azimi, the 100th Bugatti Baby II marks a milestone for Bugatti and The Little Car Company.

An avid collector of the world’s most exclusive cars, Mr. Azimi ordered his own Bugatti Baby II Vitesse after discovering the remarkable history of the Bugatti Type 35. On the occasion of Bugatti’s 110th anniversary, he also discovered the history of the Bugatti Baby I – created by Ettore Bugatti – and that The Little Car Company produced the Bugatti Baby II, in partnership with Bugatti.

Joining other exclusive cars in his garage, Mr. Azimi has carefully customized his Baby II to match the first racing Bugatti Type 35 he has ever seen on display. His vehicle features the famous French Racing Blue (Chiron) exterior and a Lake Blue interior, matching that of the racing car he saw many years ago.

Commenting on his one-of-a-kind vehicle, Mr. Azimi said: “The Bugatti Baby II is overall of incredible quality. Its handcrafted finishes, its hidden details from Bugatti’s past and present and finally, the astonishing performance not only in acceleration, but even more impressive in braking.

“I am extremely happy to be one of the 500 happy owners of this collector’s item. Also, having the privilege of receiving my Bugatti Baby II – the 100th delivered worldwide – on my birthday, made it a day to remember for my family and me.

– Authenticity at the base

The Bugatti Baby II is available in three versions: Base, Vitesse and Pur Sang. The Pur Sang offers the same powertrain as the Vitesse but with a beautiful hand-formed aluminum body. Using the same traditional bodywork techniques as the original Bugatti Type 35, each aluminum bodywork requires over 200 hours of craftsmanship.

The Bugatti Baby II is based on a digital 3D scan of an original Lyon GP car with identical geometry and suspension, meaning the handling is as authentic as an enthusiast could hope for. A nod to modernity is the introduction of adjustable shock absorbers, allowing customers to tailor handling in a way that was not possible in the heyday of the Type 35.

The performance of the Baby II lives up to the Bugatti name. Offered exclusively in rear-wheel drive, all versions of the Baby II feature an all-electric powertrain, high-performance hydraulic brakes and selectable drive modes. The base model comes with two modes; Novice which is limited to 20 km/h (12 mph) and 1 kW (1.3 hp) of power, and Expert which is limited to 45 km/h (30 mph) and 4 kW (5.4 hp) of power .

The Vitesse and Pur Sang models include Novice and Expert riding modes, but also offer additional performance thanks to an upgraded powertrain, unlocked by the legendary Bugatti Speed Key. This allows owners to deploy up to 10 kW (13.4 hp) and with a total weight of just 230 kg, reach a top speed of 70 km/h (42 mph). Depending on the weight of the driver, the 0 to 60 km/h is expedited in just six seconds.

Other features that will appeal to enthusiasts include faithful and functional replicas of the original Type 35 instruments, with some adaptations for modernity. For example, the fuel pressure gauge has become the battery gauge and, in a nod to the Bugatti Veyron, the oil gauge has become a power gauge. The scale replica of the famous four-spoke steering wheel now features a quick release for easy access to the cockpit. The adjustable pedals are machined from strong billet aluminum and proudly display Bugatti’s famous “EB” logo, while the fuel pump handle has been reproduced identically, but now serves as a forward gear selector. , neutral and rear.
