It remains to be seen which shirt numbers Leeds United’s summer signings will wear on the opening day of next season.
Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen have both arrived at Elland Road from FC Red Bull Salzburg, but the shirt numbers they will wear remain shrouded in mystery.
Aaronson himself referenced the numbered jersey he would like to wear in a recent interview with the In Soccer We Trust podcast, but the No.7 and No.11 jerseys he named are already taken.
“My favorite number has always been number 7. I like number 11 now since I got it for the national team, then I got it for the club, so I’m kind of waiting for two of them are coming,” he said. .
Ian Poveda last wore Leeds’ No.7 shirt in the 2020/21 season, while the No.11 belongs to Tyler Roberts.
A first-team reshuffle could free up a number of shirts, but it may still be a while before we find out which number we see Aaronson pulling in 2022/23.
Kristensen, meanwhile, was particularly fond of Salzburg’s number 43, but may well have to settle for something different at Leeds given that the shirt is currently taken by Mateusz Klich.
Here are the squad numbers available for new Leeds faces – and the shirts that could soon become vacant in the coming weeks.

Number 16 was Yosuke Ideguchi’s shirt number when he signed for the club several years ago. If either Aaronson or Kristensen takes this jersey, they will be hoping for a better time at Elland Road than the Japanese midfielder has endured (Photo by Andrew Varley/MB Media/Getty Images)
