How to help brides affected by fire at Jean’s Bridal
MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCBD) – A nighttime fire at Lafayette Village in Mount Pleasant on Thursday left three local businesses in shambles.
Jean’s Bridal, who has outfitted countless Lowcountry brides over the years, lost all of their inventory in the fire.
About a hundred brides were immediately affected, their dresses catching fire and wedding dates quickly approaching.
Within hours, the community began to rally around the business and the prides, with many women offering to donate their wedding dresses.
Pivotal Fitness in Park West has focused on organizing a drive for wedding supplies, collecting dresses and tuxedos to outfit those in need.
Richard Johnson, managing director of Pivotal Fitness Park West, said he remembered how stressful his wedding week had been and couldn’t imagine facing such an obstacle. “We just wanted to make someone’s day a little bit better,” Johnson said.
Johnson said he wanted to make it clear that all articles are welcome.
The campaign will continue until next Thursday and priority will be given to those whose weddings are in the near future.
Dresses, tuxedos and accessories will be accepted by reception inside. Bride and groom are encouraged to simply stop to view the inventory.
Pivotal Fitness Park West is located at 3301 Stockdale St, Mt Pleasant, SC 29466.
