FishChoice Promotes Sustainable Seafood Suppliers In Mexico
FishChoice, a non-profit sustainable seafood organization, and COMEPESCA, Mexico’s leading seafood industry trading group, are partnering to reach North American seafood buyers in the retail and restaurant business seeking access to sustainable Mexican seafood.
FishChoice will promote COMEPESCA suppliers through its website and channels.
COMEPESCA (Consejo Mexicano de Promoción de los Productos Pesqueros y Acuícolas, or “Council for the Promotion of Consumption of Seafood and Aquaculture Products”) stated that some of the Mexican seafood producers within the commercial group produce products for private labels of retailers. He represents more than 40 Mexican seafood companies, including Orca Foods (DBA Artisan Catch), Baja Shellfish Farms and Pesmar. The group is committed to promoting the benefits of consuming seafood to stimulate economic development.
“Mexican growers can help US and Canadian buyers meet their sustainability goals,” said Richard Boot, CEO of FishChoice. “FishChoice.com is all about making it easier for buyers to find sustainable sourcing options, and that’s exactly what our partnership with COMEPESCA and its member companies does. “
When a COMEPESCA member company becomes a FishChoice partner, the company can highlight their COMEPESCA membership on their FishChoice profile. This makes it easier for over 6,000 FishChoice users to find and source them.
“FishChoice is where shoppers go to find sustainable products. We are delighted to partner with them and help our member companies improve their access to US and Canadian buyers, ”said Citlali Gòmez Lepe, of COMEPESCA.
