Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode on Sunday called the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) a party of crooks and carpet baggers.
In a statement posted on his social media account, the ex-minister identified the processes leading to the emergence of DPP national chairman Iyorchia Ayu and presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar as the causes of the current crisis in the left.
The head of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the federal government and security agencies to take on former senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, over the statement attributed to him on Ayu’s emergence as president of the PDP.
In a conversation with reporters, Melaye recently said that all PDP governors spent money at the party’s national convention held in December last year to ensure the emergence of the former Senate president. as National President.
He also instructed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disqualify Atiku from the 2023 presidential race.
Fani-Kayode was a key member of the PDP before joining the APC in September last year.
The statement read: “It follows that Ayu’s election was the product of corruption and crime, as was that of Waziri Atiku Abubakar as their party’s presidential flag bearer during a later convention led by him.
“A national president who is a product of corruption and who was elected as a result of financial inducements, monetary gifts and the illegal use of public funds cannot be considered legitimate nor can he organize a legitimate convention for a presidential flag bearer.
“Ayu and his entire NWC and PDP presidential and vice-presidential candidates are illegal, illegitimate, bogus, bogus and repugnant products of cash and cash and take-out elections which according to Melaye, were financed by public funds provided by the PDP Governors.

“It follows that they are nothing more than a bunch of crooks, carpet baggers, vote-buyers, petty thieves, pickpockets and yahoo-yahoo criminals whose the malevolent disposition and evil operations are shrouded in darkness and secrecy, which behave like Al Capone’s Cosa Nostra and who cannot be entrusted with power.
“I hereby call on the federal government and security agencies to invite Senator Dino Melaye to shed light on the amount each of the PDP governors donated for Ayu’s ‘election’ and I call on them to arrest and prosecute Iyorcha Ayu and the entire NWC of the PDP for being accomplices in a criminal act, beneficiaries of the crime of corruption and accomplices after the fact.
“I also call on INEC to cancel the so-called election of Ayu as national president and to do the same with that of Abubakar Atiku who would have been elected flag bearer of the party.
“The public confession of Melaye, a leading member of the opposition PDP, who claims to have witnessed these corrupt events and practices during Ayu’s election and who is no less than the spokesperson of Atiku’s PCO changed everything and took the case to a new level.
“We used to just speculate about the rot, rodents and filth that are in the PDP, but today we received the evidence we need thanks to Dino. By his confession alone, it’s clear that they screwed up the whole process, broke the law and proved that they cannot be trusted with power.
“The individuals involved should all be disqualified by INEC and their last two party conventions and anything done in both should be declared illegal, null and void.
“Anyone involved in these illegal acts, subversion of the electoral process, violation of electoral laws and monstrous crimes, including Ayu, his entire NWC and their presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, must be prevented from participating from any way in the next election or seek public office due to their irresponsible acts and criminal activities and they must be arrested and prosecuted for their shameful and corrupt practices.
“No one is above the law. If you are violating INEC rules, violating Election Law provisions, breaking the law and engaging in criminal activity while conducting your party conventions, he must there will be and there will be consequences.
