Bismarck moms use their resources to help a good cause
The mothers of Bismarck use their resources to help a good cause.
The Moms Club of Bismarck is a non-profit organization that provides support to parents and children.
The group is raising funds through a garage sale for the Dakota Children’s Advocacy Center, an organization that provides assistance to traumatized children and their families.
“With different service projects that we do, we try to disseminate our services in the communities, so this is another one that we wanted to work with,” said Amie Kaiser, president of the Moms Club of Bismarck.
The community showed their support by viewing the inventory and purchasing items that raised funds.
“I think we’re around $ 350 for the Dakota Advocacy Center for Children,” Kaiser said.
Items such as clothing, furniture and books were all donated to support the garage sale.
“Maybe 15 of us, maybe 20; I’m not sure our group is 30 and almost everyone has donated,” Kaiser said.
This isn’t the first time the band has held a garage sale, they’ve had one before.
“We didn’t plan to do it. It was spontaneous, we decided as we had the garage sale so we ended up doing a presale yesterday and also last weekend, ”Kaiser said.
Today is the last day of the sale and a local mom, Georgia Morgan, is happy with what she’s leaving with.
“Dressers, wall decor, a chair,” Morgan said.
She said it felt good to contribute to a compelling cause.
“Just knowing that these are people here doing things like that, and not just trying to fundraise for themselves,” Morgan said.
$ 450 was raised in total, almost reaching the goal of $ 500.
